Within the synthetic turf industry, the typical infill used for golf greens is a subangular sand blend. The problem with using subangular sand infill for turf, is that it locks and compacts. When a golf ball lands on the green with subangular infill, energy and force is returned to the golf ball. The force restitution from a compacted surface forces the ball to bounce erratically.
